I need a pc for editing / gaming, and just want a somewhat lasting pc, somewhere between 1-2k, I'd obviously not like to overspend but want something good. Best bang for my buck within those margins, shouldn't be too hard hahaa.

Are you wishing to go with AMD or Intel CPU?

So, what is your actual budget? 1-2k is a wide range. Also, what is your currency?
What exactly will the system be used for? What games, what kind of editing, anything else?
Do you need a monitor within budget?
If not, what monitor(s) are you using?

Hey so I don't need monitors but might get some new ones in future using a curved Samsung monitor, 1-2k usd, fortnite maybe other games, basic YouTube editing and photoshop, multitasking, as for the other guy asking amd or Intel, idk! That's why I'm asking haha, I know how to build a pc just don't know what parts are better or not or compatible

What resolution? Refresh rate?

Fortnite isn't exactly hard to run, any more intensive games you plan on playing? Some games are better with different GPUs so knowing any games you'll be playing a lot of would be helpful.
What kind of editing, as in will you be editing 10+ minute long 4k videos, or what? What program will you be using, Adobe Premiere/After Effects?

I'm not too familiar with Sony Vegas. I know Adobe AE/Premiere perform best with CUDA acceleration, so NVidia GPUs are better. I think Vegas is still best with GPU acceleration, but it's OpenCL. In which case, an AMD GPU will likely perform better. If you want an NVidia GPU, there are some good deals on RTX 2070's in the $400-450 price range right now. If you do go with an RX 5700XT, I'd suggest waiting for 2-4 weeks until the aftermarket coolers start rolling out since the reference 5700XT cooler is pretty poor.

Add whatever capacity 7200RPM HDD you want. Add an aftermarket CPU cooler if you want.

I'm assuming you're using a 1080p60Hz monitor, snce you still haven't told us. If you are, then I'd definitely recommend a monitor upgrade if you're spending $1000+. I've included a nice 100Hz ultrawide, but you can easily get a nice 1440p144Hz or 4k60Hz monitor for ~$350 if you're not interested in an ultrawide.
