Hi,
i know that VA and TN panels are better for first person shooters. but i see contradicting information. some people say they would never play on an IPS display, but others say that the difference is extremely small and only really matters to pro's (im above avarage but no way near pro level) i would like the better screen quality of an IPS but i also don't want a major disadvantage of a high input lag and refresh rate link's to any good videos on this subject would be appreciated or just your personal opinion. how does this monitor look? (75Hz is fine for me) box.co.uk/AOC-Gaming-24G2U5BK-23....66291.html |

I would give IPS about 2 more years and we'll see panels reaching 200+ hertz. But for now if you really care purely for your FPS and hertz, TN is the best way to go. Now if you want some color to that, VA. BUT if you want the better color accuracy, colors not washed out and gorgeous 1440p or 4K. IPS is the crown jewel. I'm speaking from someone who used to have 60 hertz TN panels who jumped to 120 TN to 200 TN and then down to 144 IPS. Why? I **** loved the IPS display colors and god I've never looked back, I love how clean it looks. I honestly have trouble being in my VR games purely because I so badly want IPS panels and higher resolution so I can have it all... Oh well. Soon enough though.. Soon enough. |

Scratched wrote I would give IPS about 2 more years and we'll see panels reaching 200+ hertz. There are already 240Hz IPS displays. Makio wrote i would like the better screen quality of an IPS but i also don't want a major disadvantage of a high input lag and refresh rate Buy a good quality IPS or VA panel and you'll be fine. IPS>VA, technically, but IPS panels are more expensive and harder to find for the most part. Also, VA panels tend to have deeper blacks than IPS. Regardless, I just would not be buying a TN panel. Makio wrote how does this monitor look? (75Hz is fine for me) I definitely wouldn't be paying 160 quid for a 75Hz monitor. Another 20 quid gets you a 144Hz VA panel; amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DTN4BM8?tag=pc...&psc=1 This monitor, or similar 144Hz VA monitors come down to £160ish fairly often, but this is the best-priced example I can currently find in stock. If you're after a 75Hz IPS panel, no need to spend more than 100 quid; cclonline.com/product/lg-22mk430h...wcLDZQyi2w or if you want 144Hz IPS, you're looking at around £200 for one of those. |
