Finaly secured a 3060ti fe after trying since december and looking to upgrade my pc quite alot. Im looking to play new ganes such as cyberpunk, hevily modded fallout and some new games such as battlefield when it comes out ect so needs to be future proof.
All games are played at 1440p at 60hz however i would like to be able to go up to 144hz if i decide to get a different monitor in the future.

I would like to keep my case and hopefuly my psu and cpu cooler

I would like to upgrade to ssd storage hopefuly 2tb if in the budget if not then 1tb with the ability to add more in the future

Budget £500 gbp (not including gpu)

Current build from 2015 uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/3Nb8TW

Thanks my dudes

Got this recommended to me

Reasoning: Intel used to be the performance king and AMD the budget king. Intel is actually still the performance king at the very top but for gaming only with the 10900K, and AMD is the performance king everywhere else. However, because of AMD's newfound popularity its older products are overpriced (the 3000 series and below). Because of this, 10th and 11th gen intel processors offer better value, particularly the i3s and i5s. However, this was more true in the US. I see that the 3600 is not particularly bad in the UK right now compared to the 11400F. I would look up videos to see how the 11400F/B560 and the 3600/B450(/B550) combos compare to each other and go with whichever comes out ahead on value. The 10400F and the 3600 traded blows, so if the 11400F is better (and it already is because the B560 board allows the RAM to clock faster), it's the way to go.

I dont recommend using windows 7 anymore, I reccomend a 750W power supply for future proofing,

Sprry forgot to change os I am on win10 now, yes I would need larger psu for "future proofing" however i dont plan to change this build for another 3-5 years and I think it should be fine with a 650w psu for these parts.

Madmanmonkfish wrote so if the 11400F is better (and it already is because the B560 board allows the RAM to clock faster)

That is entirely untrue. B560 boards limit RAM to 2933MHz. B450/B550 are unlocked for RAM overclocking, so you can go past 2933MHz, in fact you'll more than likely have 3200/3600MHz XMP options with AMD+B450/B550.

There's also the fact that B560 motherboards are entirely hit or miss, whereas B550 is pretty much universally good(or at the very least, good enough). Cheap Intel B560 boards, like the MSI Pro VDH are trash and will limit performance, in some cases by a fairly large margin. Ryzen is almost definitely the better/safer bet, but the new 6 core i5's can be pretty killer value with the right motherboard.

Oh, and you are correct, 650W is entirely sufficient for your system, especially the EVGA 650G2.. very good quality PSU!

Crucial P2 and WD SN550 are both decent SSD's. Can't fault them, perfectly good options for the price. Just keep in mind that they are budget NVMe SSD's, so they're definitely not going to be close to the performance of higher end NVMe SSD's, but they will absolutely be better than SATA SSD's.

So, AMD option;
PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor (£165.00 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Asus PRIME B550-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard (£114.99 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Patriot Viper Steel 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (£68.47 @ Ebuyer)
Storage: Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£80.99 @ Box Limited)
Total: £429.45

Intel;
PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor (£131.00 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Asus PRIME B560-PLUS ATX LGA1200 Motherboard (£116.83 @ CCL Computers)
Memory: Patriot Viper Steel 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (£68.47 @ Ebuyer)
Storage: Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£80.99 @ Box Limited)
Total: £397.29

In either case, you could probably save a little bit of money on motherboard and still get something decent, or spend a little more for something with more features. In both cases though, the Asus Prime Plus is a good quality, decent middle ground option. Change the 10400F to an 11400F and you're at the same price point as the R5 3600 anyway, so at that point Id definitely go Ryzen. Your system though.

Oh, and alternative RAM;
uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/VNJtt...m2d3600c18

I've included the 1TB WD SN550, but you'll know yourself how much storage you need/want, so you can obviously up it to the 2TB variant.

Case, PSU, and cooler are all absolutely fine.
