I wanted to make a list of what characters i think are the best going into s10 if you plan on getting into the game. I also added some descriptions on their playstyles and why they belong in that tier:
https://i.imgur.com/6Kpyo8b.png S Tier Characters Octane, One of the fastest characters and fits into most team comps, Probably the most reliable character to get in and out of team fights if played correctly. His ability is a stim shot that allows him to move extremely fast while but the drawback is that it takes (10%?) of your health per stim shot. His ultimate is a jump pad that allows teams to fly towards or away from fights at high speeds which makes for some insane combo opportunities. Revenant, Alone, a decent pick, with octane? Probably one of the strongest combos in the game, Dropping a death totem (allows him to pretty much full send teams and get sent back to the totem where it was placed) and paired with octane they can full send a team and wipe them and get two chances to do so. One of the strongest ultimate's in the game when it comes to aggressive gameplay. Valkyrie, Speaking of rotations, This character allows you to rotate around the map much faster since her ultimate allows her to pretty much re-deploy her whole team and fly away, if your team is fast enough at looting that revenant/octane combo can't catch you off guard. Gibraltar, Day 1 character, the tank, the frontline, the guy you're going to get frustrated at because you put an entire clip into him and he's still full HP due to his fortify passive (takes less damage and doesn't get slowed by gunfire) His dome allows him to not only save teammates with a faster revive but also play an aggressive role with dome fights (peaking in and out the dome to get shots on people that push you) He's probably one of the few characters who can hold his own against the rev/octane combo if played correctly. His ultimate is pretty much an airstrike that will slow and damage anyone who gets hit by it, if you're in the middle of it, that's your life, he can throw his dome and throw his ultimate and force people to fight him in his dome to force 1v1's while keeping his other teammates separated. Bloodhound, Now imagine this: Rev/octane flying at you but its fine they don't know where you are, but the 3rd teammate is a bloodhound and he can scan you and follow you in realtime while also seeing you through smokes. That's the deadly trio that most high ranked players run when they want to be the aggressors. Not only is it great for offence its very good for defense too, being able to prefire teams that come to 3rd party is a great tool. A Tier Wraith, The sweaty character you get domed by or she's too quick to catch. And if you manage to catch her she leaves the game faster than someone getting killed on cod. This character has some pretty good tools to get in and out of fights like her portal and her phase ability (allows her to move 25% faster and you cannot take or deal damage during it) Paired with the smallest hitbox in the game she's a great aggressive character and with her portal ultimate she can get teammates in and out fights.
Mirage, While he doesn't have much utility, he has his own charm with decoys, not only do they have insane footstep sound which catches even the best players off guard, his ultimate shoots out 6 of them and even as a master's player its not the easiest character to fight, he's a great solo character who can hold his own in a 1v1-1v3 situation if you're good enough. Along with being able to go invisible while resurrecting teammates is a great tool especially with gold backpack (revives teammates with near full health and half shield) he's a very fun character. Pathfinder, The character that can't catch a break, he was a top character back in the earlier seasons but suffered tons of nerfs that slowed him down, but he's still the king of taking high ground. Unlike Valkyrie and bloodhound, when they scan beacons (to see where the next circle will be) he gets his ultimate with a cooldown reduction for the next use. By the end of the game your team will almost never be on the ground with a good pathfinder. Caustic, The stinky boy, who also can't catch a break. He wasn't exactly a top character due to him only being extremely useful during the later circles but when he made it there, it was impossible to beat. Constantly being slowed and ticked down by his poison was one of the reasons he got hit with a hard nerf for a season or 2. But going into season 11 he's getting some of that power back. https://i.imgur.com/Or6Gh7r.png He's great at holding down buildings for resets after fights and great at holding down aggressive team comps. Horizon, She was extremely dominant on her release pretty much beating every other character in pure winrate. But after her nerfs she isn't in the greatest spot but she also isn't a bad character, her ultimate (pretty much a black hole that pulls everyone into it and gives vision to your teammates for anyone who was pulled) is still an amazing tool to combo with strong ultimate's like Gibraltar so people can't escape. B tier Crypto, A very team dependent character but with the right team crypto will make you want to pull your hair out. Unlike pathfinder/Valkyrie/bloodhound, When crypto scans a beacon with his drone not only is he in zero danger, it scans instantly while the other 3 get stuck in animations. On top of that he can also use his drone to pick up banners and revive teammates at the respawn beacons while also not being in any danger. And his ultimate is a EMP that destroys all electronic abilities (Gibraltar dome/wattsons pylons and ultimate/etc) and depletes some of their armor. But if you don't have a team to follow up its pretty much a waste of an ability. It also slows teammates movement when you get hit
Lifeline, She's supposed to be the healer of Apex Legends but her role just gets taken away by other characters like Gibraltar with the dome revive or mirage who can go invisible to revive teammates. By all means she's not the worst character she's just not in the best spot. In Arenas on the other hand she's a very good character especially with gold backpack, and unlike the others who can revive safely she can still fight while getting you up. Bangalore, One of my personal favorite characters but no bias here, She used to be on the top back on the release of Apex due to her passive (move 50% faster when getting shot at) but they toned it down later down the road to around 25%. Probably one of the most neglected characters in the game who hasn't got any major buffs in nearly 4-5 seasons. Her smokes are great for disengaging fights but a bad bangalore will smoke your own team forcing you to move. It's also a great tool to revive your teammates in. Her ultimate is somewhat of a drawback. It's pretty much a rolling thunder that you can use to either cut off a team or to engage in a fight but it takes so long to blow up and it stuns your own teammates its not really worth using to engage. But there's nothing more fun than getting shot at and speed boosting towards someone with a shotgun. C Tier Wattson, Another neglected character that's pretty much a meme at this point, Her ability is to put pylons down and block entrances, anyone that walks through it takes a small portion of damage and are slowed for a second, she also gets notified when someone trips her fence. Back on her release she was a counter to what i called the "grenade spam meta" where everyone was allowed to carry 2 grenades per slot so everyone had 10+ grenades during the endgame. She was a direct counter to that meta since her ultimate was a massive trophy system that blocked all grenades and some ultimate's (Gibraltar/Bangalore) But since the changes to 1 grenade being a full slot not many people carry them as much any more pretty much rendering her job pretty useless. She's still a okay pick for late game and holding down buildings later on.
Fuze, He's a fun character but his ultimate is extremely hit or miss, literally. Its a massive ring of fire that anyone in the middle will be marked for your team and if you try and walk out your slowed for what feels like an eternity but its so buggy that most of the time people walk out of it unharmed. Not to mention half of the roster have some sort of ability to get out of it (Octane/Valkyrie/Pathfinder/Wraith/Horizon/Loba) Its a pretty niche character but fun. Loba, Another favorite of mine just impractical. Her first ability allows her to throw her bracelet and teleport where it lands, Sounds great on paper but the only issue that it barely works. Its one of the buggiest abilities and has been since her release. They've done a good job at fixing it at most places but on maps like Kings Canyon it barely works. Her ultimate she throws down a black market and within a radius you can loot 2 things and unlimited ammo which is amazing if you manage to land in a area with a lot of people but didn't get loot. But on maps like Olympus and Worlds edge there's so many great POI's that you almost always come out with great loot. Kings Canyon on the other hand the loot is so bad its amazing to have a loba around. She was personally the character i used to get Masters last season on that split. D Tier Rampart, Just not my favorite on this list. She barely fits into any team comp and she's very niche. She puts up a shield and if you shoot through it, the damage is ramped up but its so rarely used that most ramparts i see just use it to block doors so people have to crouch to get in. Her passive (allows her to reload LMG's and LMG's have more ammo) is one of the few good things about her. Her ultimate (minigun) is okay but it only turns so far. Ive gotten destroyed by good ramparts but there's so many bad ones that just play far back you can just go "okay i don't want to fight that lets just go to the next circle." That's pretty much everything i know about every single legend, Agree? Disagree? Tell me why. My personal favorite top 3 are: 1.Bangalore 2.Pathfinder 3.Wraith I would love to do a gun tier list after the patch notes drop officially to see what they do to all of the guns |

Agree with the list I just hope they don't nerf double time or touch bangalore it's my main legend so yeah would really suck to see her have any changes happen by far the most balanced legend in the game in my opinion.
Revenant will be very annoying once again can't wait to get shadow jumped with no audio and no healing should be amazing. Let's talk about Fuze yeah sigh... buffed before Wattson like honestly I think these devs just want every legend to become a recon character eventually. Gun changes I am happy with at least it's not gonna be 1 op weapon at first you gotta worry about. Multiple big changes for sure with Alty, LStar and more. |

Yeah, can't wait to get rev-tained for another season. Also funny enough one of the devs over at the apex studios went on a rant about how wattson is extremely overpowered Edit: Found the AMA thread https://i.imgur.com/ls6TTra.png If you wanted to read more about it |
