I am in the process of making a list of things I want to get for my game room. I want to make a really nice room rather than just have my basic ikea desk setup and that's it.
What is an item that is considered a "must have" to you or that you would recommend getting? I have a white / black theme going so I'd like to stick to that. It can be anything that is a nice addition to the room or a small gadget. So far the only I thing I plan on keeping are my monitors, my entire PC, keyboard and mouse. Everything else will probably be sold. Things I am looking for if you have any recommendations: "L" Style desk (white) Microphone + Mixamp for PC Headphones (PC) Website for neon sign / posters The final upgrade I would like to make is an ultrawide monitor with an ergomount, so if anyone has a suggestion for that I'd appreciate it. Not doing that till the very last upgrade probably but still unsure if I want to do it or not. Thanks to anyone who helps. |

Right, I have a few suggestions:
A must IMO is a good headphone stand. Keeps them out the way and organised. The amount of times I've put my headphones down and then the cable has got snagged and they've fallen on the floor. I picked up This a few years back. Nothing major expensive but enough to do the job I also purchased 2 of these and have never looked back. When you're in a dark room, you want the walls where your monitor is to match the same brightness as the monitor's are outputting. It's mostly to protect your eyes and to stop you from getting headaches Relevant cable ties and/or extensions so you can run them around the desk without having trailing cables is also a bonus. Gotta keep that work surface clean AF For headphones, I'd recommend trying loads of different ones in an audio store to see what fits you. There's little to no point going on someone's recommendation because you might just not like them but you'll never know till you try them on. You got a specific resolution in mind for this UW monitor? They vary vastly in price depending how crazy you want to go. I'd personally go with a 3rd party stand so you can attach it to your desk without any fuss. Regarding microphones... honestly, there's so much BS out there regarding these it's unreal. If someone dares to mention an XLR connection, I'd want to drop kick them in the face. Unless you really want that podcast voice sound, I'd say stick with a Mod Mic just for ease of use and easy attachment to any headphones. No fancy gear required. In terms of if you want to stream... that's out of my remit. I'm unsure of what the typical streamer uses these days. Grab yourself a big ass desk mat. It'll do 2 things; protect your desk from your day to day activities and be a mouse pad. Oh and the final note.. a chair. Right, again, there's a lot of marketing BS that you have to get through with all these gaming chairs. Ignore these. Grab yourself a nice office chair. |

Adam wrote A decent office chair really is the best thing you can do for yourself. I personally have the hyken chair from Staples. The only thing I don't like about it too much is the armrests, they're a little rough after some time and aren't very adjustable (up and down only), I've had it for 3-4 years and the armrest on the right is starting to tear a little bit but not a big deal overall. As far as a microphone, I picked up the Fifine T669 and it's been solid. It'll run you around $50 off amazon and it comes with the microphone, long durable USB cable, a desktop stand, a boom arm, and a popfilter. |

I've always envisioned my gaming room having a mounted TV & nice couch.
