kim wrote Don't know why this post was revived however. Because Ghosts going for ATH posts. Existence is futile No, I don't hate my life. I have a lot of privilege just based on luck of the draw, although that alone is not what shapes my perception of my life. It certainly lends a helping hand however. Where I was born and the opportunities that I've had available are extremely fortuitous. I've travelled a fair bit and met a lot of people. They've helped me see the opportunities that are available to me. I know that many people would give so much to have such opportunities and helped me realise that I shouldn't waste them. But some days, months and years are difficult and challenging. Awful stuff can happen that shakes up your world and rocks the foundations of our ideas and beliefs. It can be hard to keep standing at times, but that is ok. There are times for rest and there are times for movement. When the world gets too shit, I consider it a sign that it's time to shake EVERYTHING up. Move place, break your routines, try new things and experiences, meet new people and invite dance and other expressions of joy / trance into your life. Try to avoid letting bitterness seep in and the desire to blame everything that causes you suffering and discomfort and the external world. Life is never going to go 100% the way in which you wish it would and accepting that can go a long way in shifting ones outlook to the way that things are. Happiness and contentness is a subject that really interests me. It's one of the reasons why I plan to hit the road and wander some regions where people have much less to their names and much less opportunities. I recently met an African who was bewildered at the state of being in Europe. He told me that people in sub-Saharan Africa experience so much more joy in their lives on a day-to-day basis, and that this does not result from the things that provide comfort in their lives, as there are few. I met a Chinese man last week who was pondering the collective decline of happiness in China since the standards of living drastically improved on the space of his 40 year lifespan. And I've met people from Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Turkey who are hellbent on improving the quality of life in their lands to match that of Western Europe, but I look around and see a hell of a lot more substance in the gaps in these lands where our culture hasn't yet penetrated. I doubt anybody will read this far, or perhaps even beyond the first paragraph, so I'll take this as my cue to bounce. |

Frog wrotekim wrote Don't know why this post was revived however. Real shit. Good mindset & stay blessed. Depression and chronic discontentment are real things. The best way I've ever dealt with them is changing up my lifestyle or environment like you suggest. I think the most important things to consider is that discontentment is part of human nature & that the building process (be that financial, social or psychological) is never frictionless. |
