Because almost nobody participates in contests or events we post. The community has shown that they're no longer interested.

We kept posting the usual contests and events for a while after people lost interest. The breaking point was the last Halloween costume contest where a few users dressed up as genitalia and there were less than ten replies. We took the topic down.
