Hi folks wondering if anyone can advise me on this issue I've been having when playing warzone
When playing Warzone I seem to be having an intermittent issue where my PC black screens, my game crashes and my fans go into overdrive. The only way to recover is to reboot the PC. I can still talk to my friends in the background on discord but warzone crashes and my screen remains black - so I'm unsure if this is a PC issue or warzone... Seems to be triggered when I am windows + tabbing to other programs however it's not instant when I do that nor is it everytime. PC Specs: Gigabyte 3080 Ryzen 7 5800x 32GB Ram Latest GeForce Driver Any help/advice is appreciated |

Hi PDY,
Can you advise what troubleshooting steps you have already attempted? I don't want to suggest things you may have already tried but this issue could also be several things and will need to be a case of trial and error. |

I've just tried downgrading and updating my drivers - turns out I wasn't on the driver that released yesterday. It has somewhat fixed the issue as it has only happened once since.
However I am noticing the issue seems to be happening mostly when I am tabbing in and out of the game with stuff running in the background i.e. google chrome / discord. |

Can you confirm if you have checked the task manager at the time of the issue occurring to ensure the issue is not related to high CPU/RAM/GPU usage?
I would suggest completing some basic Windows OS troubleshooting steps to see if you have a corrupted Operating System or if your device is missing critical system files. I would suggest loading up Command Prompt (run as admin) and completing the below commands. If you could advise what the results are of each command and I will be happy to try and resolve them for you. Microsoft support page |

Easy_jet wrote Can you confirm if you have checked the task manager at the time of the issue occurring to ensure the issue is not related to high CPU/RAM/GPU usage? Hi mate! Apologies for the slow response, I was away yesterday. So I haven't checked the task manager at the time because the screen goes black and I am unable to do anything without restarting the system. I played a few games earlier to test it out and ended up crashing twice while playing - followed your steps that you sent across and seems there were some corrupted files which windows repaired. While try playing some more and see if that has had any impact on the crashing I've attached the Command Prompt logs below: Step 1: Step 2: Also, thank you for taking the time to help and sending across some steps, greatly appreciated! |

No problem at all, it's what I am here for.
Before I suggest anything further and potentially make unnecessary changes if you could continue to play games and see if the issue reoccurs that would be great. I do feel as if this could be a Windows OS-based issue which may be resolved by the commands you previously completed, however, as mentioned this could also be a different issue. Let me know how your PC performs over the course of the new day or so (or however request the crashes would occur) and I shall continue to support you. Thanks! |

I will give it a good go this evening and see if I am able to replicate it - game hasn't crashed since I ran the commands however I wasn't tabbing as much as I typically would so will give it a good run tonight. Appreciate your help, gentleman! |

Okay did a bit of testing this evening. Been running warzone for a bit and all was working fine for the last 2 hours.
Opened up web browser and ran the two tabs of the tech game (shout box and forums) and had discord open in the background and was tabbing in and out between games. Worked fine for a while but ended up black screening eventually. Fans running max and unrecoverable without turning off and on |

Oh damn! Okay, have you run a PC benchmark and checked your temperatures during games etc to ensure that the issue isn't the device overheating? Warzone if very hefty! |

So I ran a 30 minute stress test in cinebench and it survived without crashing...
Tbh I am new to the PC scene - what is your recommendation for benchmark software? I have found that I had changed my power settings at one point to high performance - I've since switched this back to balanced and tried running a game of warzone while broadcasting through GeForce Experience and tabbing in and out of the game periodically. I managed not to crash so I am unsure if this has fixed the issue and it could be the power settings causing my PC to crash. |
