Wish to upgrade again now, especially as existing sytem not ok for Windows 11. Although not really constrained by costs would be good to aim for value for money ...the sweet spot...and if possible be adequate for another 7 years! :-) Not now a gamer. Use - general office and home and family activities. Existing setup:- Case: full tower PSU: Corsair RM750i Mbd: Asus Z170 pro gaming Cpu: i5 6600 3.3ghz Cpu fan: Stock intel fan Memory: 2x8 = 16GB DDR4 Windows os: 10 Pro My initial thoughts... change mobo and cpu to something like:- Asus Prime H610M-A D4 Intel H610 Core i5 10600 or 11600 Would welcome any comments/advice. Thanks, Pete |

Hi,
Given your usage I would say ensure your RAM (memory) is DDR4, 16GB would be recommended for heavy excel usage, along with Windows 11 and Teams as a basic benchmark. CPU, I would recommend Ryzen 5 5600x or equivalent, Intel i5 10th series would also be fine ( If the PC is used for only 1 screen, depending on your output resolution, certain Ryzen CPUs support onboard graphics. HDD, I would be looking for an M2 drive for Windows 11 to run as efficiently as possible, or an SSD as a bare minimum. Please let me know if you have any other questions. |

As it happens i find i have a spare cpu that I would like to use. Its an Intel i5 - 9500 so now I need to change my motherboard so that cpu can be used.
And so my question is.... any advice ref what motherboard should I choose?..I would prefer to stick with ASUS but not essential. I don't wish to purchase a new expensive gaming mobo but would consider a used one, or I could maybe choose a new non gaming mobo as I'm not now a gamer. Use - general office and home and family activities. Any thought appreciated. Thanks, Pete |

Hi,
I would recommend the below as this supports the i5 9000 series however this does not support an M2 drive I do not believe. amazon.co.uk/ASROCK-H310CM-HDV-11...6211132529 |
