Honestly, I watched the coronation of the King the other day, I was quite impressed by the ceremony and the encrusted attire and items. History has taught us many things but I believe we are always United. |

Outside of the couple of weeks we spend with in our US history class learning about the revolutionary war, or if they're a soccer/football fan, the average American doesn't seem to have much interaction with the UK. I had to explain the difference between Northern Ireland and Ireland to a coworker yesterday. Being on TTG alone is probably more interaction with UK culture than your average American will have otherwise in their lifetime. People who are more online in the US probably have some semblance of the UK in their head outside of just London. I'm fairly aware of the geography, but typically can't point out where someone might be referencing when they say something like "I'm from Yorkshire". Probably similar to when someone from US says "I'm from Nebraska" to a UK local.
Cannot speak for Canada, and id assume any country south of Texas here has less personal interaction with the UK unless some of them have colonial connections. Edit* After thinking about it some more, the Royal Family is probably the largest point of reference for your average US person. Our media loves to talk about them for some reason, any grocery store checkout line is guaranteed to have a magazine with Harry, Meghan, or Andrew on the cover with some clickbait headline. Americans love their reality show type drama. Also Love island, which I believe is British? People started obsessing over that here around the time covid kicked off |
