Hi Guys,
I'm currently starting a BS in MIS (Management Information Systems.) I am 25, married with a toddler. I've finished up my financial aid and got information from different colleges (US and Online Options) My company partners with GCU and offers tuitions assistance through GCU so that is my choice of school. 26K for it What I'm looking for are those that have finished or are still in school and have busy schedules and how they manage their time. I'm able to do some learning during my work hours and at night. Thanks fellas No meme. |

I'm about to finish my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Hopefully, I will start my MBA in September. I try to knock out as much as possible during my free time and set aside time during the weekend. |

Going to uni for my BS in Computer Science. I took 19 credits (after getting special permission because my uni's typical limit is 18) and full time is usually 12 credits. So needless to say time management was critical that semester. Here are some of my tips:
1) Start the HW assignments as soon as they are assigned. I've always done this and have noticed a lot of students push assignments off to the last minute which is a terrible idea. If something goes wrong or you underestimate the time something will take, its almost always too late to correct it. Also imagine the professor being overloaded with emails from the people who waited last minute, odds are your not going to get a response
2) Read the chapters in the books early. This helped me because I would always be a week "ahead" and would already have an idea on the topic being introduced so that way the lectured would be for clarification on things I didnt understand while reading the chapter. This helpful because instead of being introduced to a topic in lecture and then needing clarification afterwards, the book doesnt always help and sometimes it may make you more confused. So using the professor for clarification before any HW is assigned is definitely the way to go. 3) Create a schedule and stick to it! I dedicated Monday through Friday for doing HW/working on group projects and Saturday and Sunday for reading new chapters. Now it doesnt always work out perfectly, some weekdays I read chapters for classes that I finished HW for or didnt have any HW in and on some weekends I did HW for classes that I couldnt complete during the week (typically because of group projects) and then read the chapters. However, I also dont work a typical job, I do food delivery like Uber eats and Door Dash so I can clock on and off when I want to so that gave a lot of flexibility. 4) If you have group projects, try to pick a group who you know has members that are responsible and have a similar mindset of having time management. There is absolutely nothing worse than being in a group and members push things off till last minute Time management schedules are always subjective because not everybody has a similar life style, some people are busier than others. As long as you set a time for doing assignments/working on group projects and time for studying and stick to it, you should do fine! |

I did a 3 year, full time, in person degree while working 16 hours weeks without a family. It was absolutely exhausting, life got a lot better when I finished and went back to working shitty jobs haha. I really had to learn to manage my time and adhere to a strict schedule. I think it will massively help to work on your studies during work time. It'll be hard but I'm sure it can be done.
Good luck https://www.thetechgame.com/images/chat/smiles/cool008.gif |
