hey everyone,
Ive had this computer for many years and never has ran into any issues. I upgraded my GPU last year from a GTX 970 to a 3060ti. and I havent played much since the upgrade but on some more intense games Star Citizen, or even Valorant my computer seems to be struggling a lot and running at 100% CPU and Memory causing constant crashes on start up or unplayable lag. I went into my Bios and increased overclock a bit and it seemed to help a bit, but will still crash the game and is very jittery. I am doing a factory reset now to see if this will help at all. Do you think i require a better GPU and more RAM to run these games now? If so I suppose i will start looking at upgrading my system around the 3060ti. r00t wrote Your CPU is ten years old. Is there a new CPU that I can use on the same motherboard? or would you recommend looking into a new motherboard and RAM to go with it? |

Mikobitme wroter00t wrote Your CPU is ten years old. No, the CPU and RAM are also ten years old and not compatible with new stuff. It's overkill for your 3060 Ti, but there are combo deals in the US for a 7800X3D, B650 board, and DDR5 for $500-600 US. slickdeals.net/f/17040193-amd-ryz...ter-499-99 slickdeals.net/f/17034157-amd-780...os-562-619 |

Thanks Root, do you happen to see any deals in CAD? Would cost me quite a bit in exchange/ duty to get it here in Canada.

Yeah, a 4790k is probably going to hold you back at this point.
Do you have a rough budget to work with? On the cheaper end, I'd probably start with a Ryzen 5000 CPU and B550 motherboard, 16-32GB DDR4. If you can spend more than that, and are comfortable doing so, then start looking at Ryzen 7000 or Intel 14000 CPU's with an appropriate motherboard and DDR5 RAM. |

Yeah my budget would be around $1500 CAD, Im wanting to upgrade and for it to last a long time again like my current build has, I already have a full tower Phanteks Case and i think my EVGA 650W should be enough for a new build
