Game of the Year 2023
So, this years nominees for The Game Awards' "Game of the Year" have been released and the list contains two Nintendo exclusives this year. Games such as Baldur's Gate 3, Resident Evil 4 and Zelda were almost guaranteed spots and come as no surprise to most. Notable exclusions include Starfield, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. I have not played it, but based on everything I've read and heard, Baldurs Gate is probably going to snag this easily. I've played the rest outside of Spiderman 2, and I'm guessing second place will be a race between that and TOTK. The other new gen spiderman games have looked to be some of the best games in general to come out on console in the last few years. TOTK was a lot of fun, but mostly just felt like a DLC to BOTW. Which is cool, because BOTW is probably the most fun game I've ever played, but nothing new enough that I think the award will go to it. It didn't really keep me glued to the game hunting down seeds or shrines like BOTW did. The new physics mechanics did work really well for the most part though.
Kinda surprised not to see Jedi Survivor on the list, would not expect it to win but figured they'd just include it because huge IP that was reviewed well. |
