I have not personally played BG3, but I understand why it won the Game of the Year (GOTY) award. It is surprising to me that a turn-based game could win, as I find it quite unusual. Many people say that the story you can create in BG3 is exceptional, surpassing that of other games. I am interested in hearing different viewpoints and opinions on this matter. Personally, I thought Spider-Man 2 had a strong chance of winning the award. |

From what I've seen of all the nominations, I'm not at all surprised that it won. It's a great feat for a non-traditional game to take the cake and while I won't play it, I'm glad to see such a successful deviation from the norm. |

BG3 took the cake for me and well deserving of the award it got, first time I ever played a DnD/turn based game and learned that's a genre I am glad I learned I enjoyed. The game kind of starts to fall short in the third act but otherwise it's great and the customization and builds you can do are awesome.
Other contenders for the GOTY I played were Spider-Man 2 and TOTK which I both thought were great games but spider-man 2 felt like it took a few steps back in comparison to the first game with side content and things to do, while tears of the kingdom was awesome it also felt like an extension of breath of the wild and both of these games use mostly the same maps with some new variation. |
