Hey Everyone,

So I find myself going back and forth between OSRS and RS3.
I play both at the same time quiet often, but i think i want to start dedicating my time to one version fully...
I don't have any friends that i play with on either haha I'm kind of a loser

But on OSRS (I just started a couple weeks ago) I've been solely focused on Questing, and on RS3 I've been only focusing on Leveling and not doing any quests..

So I'm not really sure which game i want to fully commit too...

Has anyone ran into this? Any thoughts or advice?

Rs3 thoughts

Rs3 just wasn't for me. Don't get me wrong its a fun game but it felt, empty? Not player wise but just goals. My goals felt super outdated (like camping GWD) and doing Nex. Skilling felt worthless because you can just lamp it.

Like playing on a main account who sort of quit around the time EOC came out, It feels really awful because your thrown into the middle of it all and have really no sense of direction. Content creators make vague videos where you have to dig through years of content to find the answer and mundane things like woodcutting has so many boosts/upgrades/augments that it makes chopping a tree a hassle.

Even in your screenshot your training construction without ever touching your POH which honestly just feels awful that you never actually go out and train your skills any more (as a main account) My PoH looked the same way it did when i made a runescape video nearly 13 years ago. It's just a rough feeling knowing that MTX is the fastest way to max your account rather than actually doing agility or doing farm runs.

Not to mention the events they have kills any momentum i have to play the game. Why train skills if i can just wait for 2xp weekend? Why learn a boss and throw money at it dying over and over when i can wait for free death coffer week? it made me actively avoid playing the game until those events came around. Otherwise its just a big waste of time.

Don't get me wrong, The game could be fun if i was to start over but i just don't really care too much for it.

Here are my stats before i quit, I gave it a full fledged try but it wasn't for me.

Also, Made a funny little video that pretty much sums up playing a main on RS3

OSRS thoughts
OSRS is the more "easier" choice. You already know how the game works because its the same as it was back in the mid 00's. And because of that you have a clear roadmap on what you can do to progress as fast as possible. You quest to unlock the map, You use said unlocked map to train your skills faster, You max and you get to collection logging.

But there's a nice pace to it. You don't need to rush to the endgame, You can log in and afk some rock crabs, Nightmare zone, Redwoods, MLM etc. It doesn't feel like if you were to quit for a year you'd fall behind. I took a 3 year break from osrs and came back around late November last year and even though my friends played every single day while i was gone i can still run raids with them like i never left. Everyone has different goals at the beginning (i wanted every single teleport in the game so i never had to walk anywhere so i rushed the QPC and construction for the max house) So its not like you need to entirely follow a guide but its nice that the option is there. Not to mention the wiki is fantastic.

I'm currently maxed in OSRS and i still find reasons to log on, I'm currently doing a clan bingo event and its been a blast, Prior i was doing a rebuild with a megarare weapon which taught me how to do bosses i skipped over while training and my long term goal is all megarare weapons and max armor sets

tl;dr, Both games have their pros/cons but personally i'd choose OSRS over RS3 regardless of stats. The game just feels much more fulfilling than rs3. BUT rs3 is not a bad choice if you don't have much free time. I had some fun training invention/archeology but even after that i just felt lost.

Also, TTG has a OSRS clan with a ton of people in it, I'd ask in the main post if you can join, There's plenty of clans you can join, I've been in mine for about 6 years

Man that was a very thought out explanation! Thank you for that, you hit all those points in the head!

I appreciate the time you took to put this together!
