So just hear me out... wouldn't this be a great opening scene??
**Opening Scene:** [Dark screen with faint sounds of frantic breathing, distant screams, and the eerie growl of zombies. Fade in to a small, dimly lit bedroom cluttered with gaming gear, snack wrappers, and half-empty energy drinks. The glow of a computer monitor illuminates the face of **ETHAN**, a nerdy young man in his mid-20s, wearing oversized glasses and a headset. He stares at the screen, completely absorbed.] **ETHAN (V.O.)** People always say life isn't like video games. No respawns. No cheat codes. No leveling up after you lose. They're right... and wrong. [Cut to a montage of ETHAN playing games: his character dies repeatedly in a first-person shooter, then respawns; in a survival game, he builds an elaborate base while evading enemies. The montage ends with ETHAN leaning back triumphantly as the words "VICTORY" flash across the screen.] **ETHAN (V.O.)** In games, I'm a legend. Top of the leaderboard. MVP. But in real life? Let's just say I've been player two... without a player one. [ETHAN takes off his headset and sighs. The camera pans to his phone buzzing on the desk. It's a text from **MOM**: "Hope you're coming to family dinner this week!" ETHAN ignores it, opens a bag of chips, and puts on another game.] **ETHAN (V.O.)** Real life is messy. No pause button. No reset. I've always been better at staying in my lane--safe, predictable, alone. But then... everything changed. [A low rumble shakes the room. ETHAN glances around, confused, as objects fall off shelves. Outside, distant car alarms go off, and the faint sound of screams grows louder.] **ETHAN (to himself)** What the--? Earthquake? [He pulls up a livestream on his computer. News footage shows chaos in the streets: people running, fires burning, and... zombies attacking. ETHAN's eyes widen in disbelief.] **NEWS ANCHOR (on screen)** ...authorities are urging citizens to stay indoors. The cause of the outbreak is still unknown, but-- [A zombie smashes into the camera on the livestream. Static fills the screen.] **ETHAN (V.O.)** I thought it was a joke. Some viral marketing stunt for a new game. But then I heard it... outside my window. [Cut to ETHAN slowly approaching his window. He peeks through the blinds. Outside, his suburban street is in chaos: neighbors running, zombies attacking, cars crashing. A teenage zombie slams against the window, snarling. ETHAN stumbles back in terror.] **ETHAN (V.O.)** This wasn't a game. This was real. And for the first time in my life, I wasn't sure what to do. [ETHAN looks around his room, panicking. His gaze falls on a shelf of gaming memorabilia: swords, shields, and survival gear from collector's editions. A realization dawns on him.] **ETHAN (V.O.)** But then I remembered... I've been training for this my whole life. [Cut to ETHAN strapping on a gaming-themed backpack, wielding a replica sword, and donning a pair of night-vision goggles. He looks ridiculous but determined.] **ETHAN (V.O.)** The world was ending. And I was about to go from zero... to hero. [Smash cut to title screen: "GAME OVER"] [End of opening scene.] |
