Xbox One System Software Update Will Let You Turn Off Startup Sound

If you’d like to turn on your Xbox One late at night without waking up your mom, cat or significant other, help is on the way as part of a future system software update, as shared by Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb.

Not only you can turn it off completely, but you can also set it so that it’ll ring only when you turn the console on with voice or the power button.

While the option is not available yet, it’s certainly a welcome addition. You can check out the images below.

Lost I don't really see why this is even needed. The sound doesn't really seem that loud to me.


Wait until you have a child, When theyre asleep you realise what you once thought was quiet turns into the loudest thing ever! turning that water tap on makes a noise like a Hungry T-Rex and when you turn the Halo 5 Xb1 on it sounds like the entire covenant armada is landing in your back yard ready for a picnic.....

I have the blue Forza 6 XB1 and the sound it makes while turning on and off are really loud. I like them, don't get me wrong, but I'd much rather have control of when the sound plays and when it doesn't.

I have the same one lol. A week after buying it I was turning it on and off by controller at night, then the recent update really f'd me over with my 2 dogs barking and then the family is up. Now if I remember to, I turn it on before they go to bed and let it turn off by itself after 30 minutes

You couldn't be more right. I have a few pups and once that sound goes off they just start barking and barking and barking.
