The $200 million day-one launch of Halo: Reach earlier this week is a sign of a healthy core market, Lazard analyst Colin Sebastian believes.

While there are concerns that it may have grabbed a few potential customers from November’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, Sebastian notes that the shooter’s success “is more indicative of a healthy core gamer market.”

Reach launched worldwide this Tuesday. Microsoft has since crowned it the biggest US entertainment launch of 2010.

“Additionally, we continue to believe that recent stronger sales of PS3 and Xbox 360 units should benefit the leading software titles on these platforms over the coming months,” Sebastian also said. “As such, we remain confident that Black Ops should meet or beat our unit estimates this holiday.”

The Treyarch shooter will launch worldwide on November 9.
