Nintendo is Allegedly Recalling the Wii U From Major Retailers

4.8
Early last month, Nintendo ended production of its current-gen Wii U console. Given how the system failed to sell a significant amount of units (just shy of 13 million worldwide), this wasn’t entirely surprising. However, according to various reports from consumers, it appears that Nintendo is going one step beyond merely ending production of the system, with the console manufacturer seemingly recalling all Wii U systems from major retailers.

This was first discovered by NeoGAF user AuthenticM during one of his weekly visits to Best Buy. He noticed that the usual stack of Wii U units was completely gone, even though there was a full batch just the prior week. When he asked a clerk if the Wii U was sold out, he was told that Nintendo had them all recalled.

Other users in the thread confirmed that stores like GameStop and EBGames didn’t have any Wii U systems on sale either. Video game site, GameZone, called up places like Walmart, Best Buy, and Target and were also unable to find any Wii U consoles. For whatever reason, Nintendo has apparently issued a complete recall of its latest system.

This is going to drive up the price off the wii U. I saw a guy wanting to trade with ps4 for a wii u on the facebook marketplace 2 days ago. He had like 6 games with us too. Apparently some people just like nintendo better

Huh, that is odd. I don't think they did that well anyways.
