Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Includes Nearly 20% Of 360 Library

4.8
The Xbox One’s backward compatibility feature has recently reached an impressive milestone – there are now over 300 Xbox 360 games that can be played on your Xbox One. That is a fine showing for a feature that was introduced a little over a year ago. There are still a number of questions, though. One of the big questions remaining is how this number compares to the entire Xbox 360 library.

One Xbox fan crunched the numbers there are approximately 1,722 Xbox 360 games that might have been made backwards compatible for the Xbox One. However, about 160 of these games can never be added to the program because they require additional hardware that is not supported by the Xbox One (Guitar Hero titles, for example.)

That leaves 1,562 Xbox 360 games that could potentially be played on Xbox One. There are currently 308 backward compatible games as of this writing meaning 19.72% of the Xbox 360 library that could be played on Xbox One is already part of the BC library. If Microsoft and third party publishers keep up this pace then it is feasible that over half of the Xbox 360 library could be made backward compatible by this time next year.

The Xbox One backwards compatibility program was initially announced during Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference. The program had a soft rollout on that day and was officially launched in November of 2015.

Good to see they're adding a bunch of games in, hopefully there will be some dope ones

That is a massive accomplishment! Surely will not stop until 100% knowing MS.

BC was probably the best thing that happened to the Xbox One until Scorpio officially comes out, always fun to relive the nostalgia of an older game

Good to see they are adding lots, hopefully they add some of the more obscure titles but I doubt they will
