Fail0verflow running Linux, Steam and Portal 2 on PS4

4.5
The hacker Marcan42 from the famous group Fail0verflow demonstrated a new exploit in PlayStation 4 console with version 4.05 firmware.

The presentation made during the event CCC33, shows how hackers were able to make compliant Linux architecture of the PS4. Marcan42 repeatedly explained that despite the seeming properties, the console is significantly different from what we now call IBM compatible PC.

The attack used the technique man-in-the-middle against PCIE bus console and let's ride on Steam as a demonstration that 3D hardware acceleration works.

Developments in the current version of the exploit are improved compatibility on Linux with some of the functions of the PS4, and that before the exploit required firmware 1.76. This time he was carried off the console with 4.05 but representative Fail0verflow confirmed that it did not intend to release exploit code publicly. For the moment the focus of the group is to achieve a 100 percent Linux port. For all enthusiasts, the current archive Fail0verflow is available in the on GitHub .

I'm not sure about most of the stuff the guy was talking about but it was interesting to hear that the Ps4 could be a "PC" with the things he or they did. I wish i was good at coding and stuff because it just look so complicated but he made it interesting and like it was big trial and error process.

Definitely a step into the right direction, I'm excited to see where this takes us. Maybe soon we can see a Xbox One exploit.

Nick This is pretty dope actually. Too bad I don't have a ps4.

Doesnt matter the method is currently private anyway. They have released the files but the entrypoint that they used is closed.
