Skyrim and Fallout 4 console mods now have a cap

4.5
Recent updates to the console versions of both Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition have placed a cap on the number of mods running at any given time.

While mods can make your game look prettier, funnier, or more terrifying, Bethesda seems to believe the old belief that there can be too much of a good thing. As revealed on the Bethesda forums by a community administrator, the mod cap is currently set at 150. While that seems like a lot of mods to me, I’m sure there are gamers playing Skyrim at this moment with an Anime-cowgirl companion, running for their lives from a Macho Man dragon, across a beautifully rendered lush forest with an inventory filled with custom weapons.

Bethesda understands this too, saying the following:

“We understand this is a frustration point for all of you. Like all of you, we’re still new to the process of allowing mods on consoles and working on ways to improve the experience over time. We will be continuing to update both Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition with new updates pertaining to mods, and if we’re able to address these concerns, we will provide information through future release notes.”

Sounds reasonable. I mean, technically there's a cap on mods on PC as well since you're going to get bugs/crashes with too much. I'm honestly surprised you can have as many as 150 mods installed on console at any one time.

Nicholas I don't really like the mods on console. Yeah I understand if you give yourself like god mode or unlimited items, it'll disable achiemenets. But if I wanna make the grass purple and the water rainbow with a talking banana as a companion. I would like to get achiements still.

That was a mouthful, but I completely agree. They should go through mods individually, yea it's a lot, but from a company that size, they could hire people to do it for them, and then put a tag that determines if it'll disable achievements or not, that way, people who use mods for visuals or non-over-powered companions, like just graphical reworks, wont have achievements disabled and can play the game normally but still with the visuals they like, that'd be really nice

Not a single period. What does this even say?
There is one actually, and why do you have to be toxic?

DJ For console that's more then enough. They only allow 5gb of mods and I have like 15 active and I am almost full.

I didn't even know that, is there any way you can get more than 5gb?

I hate when they put caps on fun...makes the game go back to dull.
