The news came via the following tweet from the game’s official Twitter account, run by developer Psyonix
As of January 11th the game had 25 million players, meaning in a little over three months the game gobbled up another 5 million players.
It’s important to note that this doesn’t mean 30 million copies sold, and includes guest accounts and players with more than one account.
Rocket League, for those that don’t know, first released back in July of 2015 for PS4 and PC, followed by Xbox One in February of last year. The game not only put Psyonix on the map, who was a relatively tiny developer compared to other industry titans, but it has become a big player in the eSports scene, and one of the most popular games on the console and PC market.
