During the first in a series of making-of livestreams, Sledgehammer games confirmed that Call of Duty: WWII will explore the Battle of the Bulge during the course of its story campaign.

Bret Robbins, creative director on the game’s campaign, revealed the new information in response to a fan question. “I’m not sure I’m supposed to say this, but I’m going to say it anyway, yes, we go to the Battle of the Bulge,” Robbins said. “That was a huge conflict. It’s a huge battle and we had to include it.”

The Battle of the Bulge took place from December of 1944 through January 1945, marking the last major German offensive on the war’s Western Front. The Allied forces, caught of guard by the surprise attack, suffered enormous casualties, with the winter weather making survival even more difficult. The 1st Infantry Division, the focus of Call of Duty: WWII‘s campaign, fought continuously for more than a month, so it’s easy to imagine the battle spanning more than just a single mission in the game’s story.

Most of the rest of the stream consisted of behind-the-scenes info that didn’t reveal much in the way of new details about the actual game, but one other tidbit did emerge. In response to an earlier question Robbins confirmed that the game will have “female characters and soldiers in multiplayer and Zombies and throughout the game.” Previously, it was unclear whether women would be playable in all three modes, with Zombies in particular being an open question.

The next Making Call of Duty: WWII livestream won’t air until the week of E3 2017, meaning there will be a bit of a wait before we hear anything new about the game.
