The game comes with an extensive single player campaign starring former street racer Tyler Morgan, on a quest to rebuild his crew, win an apparently impossible race, and destroy a cartel named “The House.”
There will be five classes of cars, Race, Drift, Off-Road, Drag and Runner. Of course, deep customization is on the menu, with lots of aftermarket parts to be won and purchased. You’ll even be able to find derelict cars by exploring the open world, and restore them into a “one-of-a-kind supercar.”
The location of Fortune Valley is also full of variety, including cities, mountains, desert areas and even a canyon.
A scoring sytem will include speed and style moments and heaters that you can chain in order to multiply your winnings, with a risk and reward mechanic that prompts you to keep pushing and risk losing all or bank what you got while safe.
The autolog feature will compare your scores with everyone else’s including the campaign and other activities in the open world.
Those who will pre-order the game will get the Need for Speed Payback Platinum Car Pack, including the following rides:
Nissan 350Z 2008
Chevrolet Camaro SS 1967
Dodge Charger R/T 1969
Ford F-150 Raptor 2016
Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport 2016
A Deluxe Edition will also be available for all platforms, including three days of early access, a story mission pack, special customization options (a unique license plate, leaderboard icon, and NOS color you can use on up to five cars.), a 5% rep bonus and a 10% discount on in-game purchases.
