For those that don’t know about the mural, here’s a quick backstory. Visible inside the Mt. Chiliad lift station, the Mt. Chiliad mural displays a mysterious drawing of the mountain with several interesting hieroglyphs. Most of the hieroglyphs have paid off so far and can lead to players virtually tripping on peyote or finding a UFO floating above the mountain. The glyph of a cracked egg, however, has never been solved.
That is, until the recent Gunrunning update to Grand Theft Auto Online, the code of which may contain the answer to life’s biggest question.
A model for the egg, which had been previously found with no script attached to it, might play into a UFO crash event that developer Rockstar Games has planned for GTA Online, according to a recent Reddit post from Chiliad mystery hunters Team Guru.
You see, the code that came out with the Gunrunning update finally attached some script to the egg and other alien-related assets, meaning that Rockstar is planning the crash site event at Fort Zancudo, and it will involve an alien and the egg in some capacity.
If we sound crazy explaining this, it’s because the whole situation is a little crazy. Escalating a four-year-old mystery in a random update that adds script to assets that have existed for a while now is a bit nutty, but it’s not something we’d put past Rockstar, especially if it means bringing players back to its highly lucrative online mode.
When this event will happen—if it happens at all—is anyone’s guess, but for now keep your eyes on the skies. Or, you know, just wait for Los Santos to experience another intergalactic glitch.
