Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Teases New Games by Halo and Gears of War Devs

Microsoft did not show either Halo or Gears of War at E3 this year, but Microsoft’s Xbox Division head Phil Spencer had something to say about the future of the series during an interview on the Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu.

Spencer mentioned that he recently visited both The Coalition (developers of the Gears of War series) and 343 Industries (working on the Halo series), and he has “seen amazing work.” Both studios are currently working on their future projects, and there will be a lot to share about them in the future.

He is proud of having shown 42 games at the Xbox E3 press briefing, having the longest conference so far for the brand. With all the games introduced, he believes that there was no need for a new Halo or Gears of War, and this speaks to the diversity of the Xbox line-up.

Spencer concluded by mentioning that he was able to present Sea of Thieves, Super Lucky’s Tail, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and new IPs, and he felt a great response for them.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see when Microsoft will be ready to unveil the new Gears of War and Halo games, but for now we’ll have to be patient and wait.

I'm more of a GoW man. Hated Halo since i started gaming.

lbreadstickl If halo devs want to steal our money: 1.) create mostly symmetrical maps like og halo 2.) make all Spartan abilities disappear except for pick-ups like og halo 3.) make gameplay like og halo (remove ******* sprint) 4.) create better graphics 5.) create authentic audio for weapons. Guns sound fake af now and some look worse than they sound.

Anyways fps games that are slower paced and include a little more strategy/skill like strafing, instead of sprinting away have always proved to be more fun to 100% of my buddies and I, even if we happen to be the ones who died. You at least feel like u have a good chance and ur not skeet shooting


I agree bring back the old and not that crap the games do now days

Oh god no! At least let Epic Games who made GoW 1,2 and 3 make a new game not the shitty Coalition who are killing Gears 4. Other than that I do not have a problem with 343 as I have enjoyed Halo 4 and 5 as I am not a big halo player to begin with.
