In a response on Twitter, Xbox’s Phil Spencer revealed that original Xbox games—confirmed during E3 2017 to be coming to backward compatibility—would not see widescreen support if it wasn’t featured to begin with, as it would be difficult to adjust the frame buffer aspect ratio of most original games.
No, most OGXbox games didn't have WS. Can't really easily change the frame buffer aspect ratio on a shipped game from BC.

Additionally, players should not expect to see achievements for any of these older games. “We run the OG code, so the game will support what the original game supported,” Spencer wrote in a subsequent tweet, meaning there won’t be any achievements to pull from, and new achievements are unlikely as they would require updates for each individual game.
In other (somewhat disappointing) backward compatibility news, Spencer also recently confirmed that the selection of original Xbox games would be substantially smaller than that of Xbox 360 games on the service. Currently, the only original Xbox titles confirmed for the service are Crimson Skies and Fusion Frenzy.
