“There will be a Halo movie,” says Microsoft’s Frank O’Connor

Microsoft’s Frank O’Connor has said it before, and is saying it again: “There will be a Halo movie.”

The rich and vast universe of Halo has long been discussed about whether or not it should be depicted as a full motion feature. Ask any gamer, and the answer is quite obvious, but for the rest, it’s not. While O’Connor explained that “everyone wanted to do a Halo movie, the director, Microsoft, the highest placed people at movie companies,” he also mentioned the reason the project “fell apart.”

“The lawyers,” said O’Connor. “When they went behind closed doors with the contracts, things fell apart,” adding that due to Microsoft owning all rights to the franchise, including licensing, “the problem was that the movie company couldn’t make any money beyond the movie.”

While making a movie based on the game would be the obvious thing to do, history has once and again taught us the consequences of doing so, which is why O’Connor offered an alternative; a Halo TV series.

“We’d love to see Halo as a television series. Look what HBO did with Band of Brothers or even Rome. Something like that would work because the Halo universe is so vast.”

So, Halo the movie or Halo the TV series, what say you?

If they were to do a movie, I think, it should have a different story line than the game. Why watch a movie when you can play the movie? Make sense? And if they do a TV series then I still say they do a different story line because for those that are big fans of the Halo series they would be criticizing it more than enjoying it.
