Gran Turismo 5 ships 5.5 million worldwide

Sony's pretty confident in its latest big release, Gran Turismo 5. The publisher shipped 5.5 million copies of the game to retailers worldwide since launching in late November, pushing the entire franchise's worldwide lifetime shipped numbers to just over the 60 million mark (61.41 million, precisely). Gran Turismo 5 debuted on November 24th and placed 8th on the NPD's software sales ranking for that month.

Sony and developer Polyphony Digital also noted their dedication to expanding the world of GT5 in the future. "Polyphony Digital Inc., will continue hereon to vigorously promote development of the Gran Turismo series, which can be expected to evolve even further through the PS3 platform and broadband network environment." Let's hope for more notable additions, like the recent introduction (v1.03) of tiered vehicle damage to online races.

I don't need it to be a 360 game to know a bad game when I see it. Racing games are just like sports game and call of duty games. A new one is made every year and then the old one becomes cheap, like worthless cheap.
yh but if you look in any shop in the uk or the U.S you will see that a new mw2 is about 30 or 40 pounds/dollars im not sure and cod 4 even after it release was years ago is still above 20 pounds brand new plus they are probs the most played game in the world so get good or dont get nothing cod rules and always will even though we all hate it at some point it is an amazingly well made game and always will be (P.S) hope gran turismo will come out on xbox at some point looks amazing and i am tempted to buy a ps3 just for the games us xbox players are missing out on


oh dear another 11 year old that has no idea what hes talking about, gt5 looks good but, they have spent so long making it and delaying it, people will just be dissapointed.

Also one hit wonder kid, you really think cods great? go play a real game, this is what wrong with you kids that never lived the packman and pong days you dont know what a real game is, cods just a money making machine where they pump out the same game every year dressed in a new suit and tie and because of the name people buy it, now back to Css for me :p

I Remember Playing The Gran Turismo Series When I Was Younger on The PS2 But Then Forza Came Out on The Xbox and I Love Forza Games But I Do Get Bored of Them Pretty Quick ;)
