Call of Duty 2018 May Have A Modern Setting

4.3
Call of Duty is going back to its roots with World War 2, the upcoming game this year that will take players back to the kind of games that made the franchise so big to begin with- and it is sounding like next year’s game, developed by Treyarch, may continue that trend. Except it also sounds like next year’s game won’t be a World War game- rather, it will be returning to the modern day setting that made Call of Duty explode with Modern Warfare ten years ago.

This is just according to a job listing on Treyarch’s website, which seems to specifically request someone with familiarity with modern day military hardware and weaponry. Now, I feel like it is best to point out that even if the game being developed were a ‘future warfare one’, it is likely Treyarch would prefer someone with experience with modern real day weapons, since their fictional weapons would be based on real ones to begin with.

So the job listing in and of itself doesn’t confirm anything- but it definitely seems to hint at something interesting nonetheless. Call of Duty: World War 2 is due this November on PS4, Xbox One, and PC by Sledgehammer; Treyarch’s game will release, presumably in November next year, and will be released early next year. We should know what it is about then.

Decy I wouldn't mind a modern game for the next game as it would feel fresh instead of sticking to the world war era which is fun but in my opinion it keeps the franchise fresh.

yeah they shouldn't keep the setting the same in a row.

WHy not, they keep the shit game mechnics each time, no matter what era it's set in, they all feel the same to play.

But its the era that makes the game that's what interests people its like fifa.. same stuff different year.

They want someone with knowledge of modern day military weapons and hardware? Why? We all know they're going to take a dump all over realism and put their own unique, garbage touch to it.

Bin the yearly releases, erase everything from the last 4 years and start new games from scratch.

Just let it be good and let them release updates fast enough to keep people interested I believe cod 4 remaster could honestly go far keep the graphics release all mw2 and mw3 maps and guns with s cost of 20 or even 30 each a d i would pay

Yin Now, that will have my full attention. The beta for WW2 wasn't terrible, but I just don't like the setting. I'd be all for a modern setting or even a slightly future one.

wow I loved the beta and so did many others - I guess you can't win over everyone.

I also heard many dislike it more than I did. The time to kill/so many hit markers. The map design. Op incendiary shell shotgun. I had some fun with it, but it just doesn't beat a modern setting for me. I was mostly done with the WW2 setting when CoD 4 came out. There is just nothing really new to see with that time period so it just 'meh' basically.

Personally I always loved the modern setting call of dutys for the most part. Especially modern warfare 1 2 and 3.
