PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds creator Brendan Greene has revealed via Twitter that the game has now reached a new record for concurrent players, as the game crossed over two million concurrent players, which far surpasses the services over most popular titles such as Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Since its debut back in March on Early Access, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has shown exponential growth both in terms of its sales and playerbase. Just this week the game crossed over 15 million copies sold, while the game had surpassed 1.5 million players a few weeks back. However, PUBG has only continued to grow stronger and surpassing some of Steam’s mainstays like Dota and CS:GO seemed unheard of before, but it truly has become this year’s runaway success even when it hasn’t fully released yet.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on PC through Steam Early Access, with an anticipated “full” release sometime next year. An Xbox One version of the game is also currently in development and expected later this year.
OVER TWO MILLION!! Thank you all, once again, for your continued support <3 pic.twitter.com/Gf9DEjuhBv
