Destiny 2's Console Playerbase Is Dwindling

4
Destiny 2 has dominated many players’ free time since the game was released, but just over a month after the game became available, it appears that the number of active players on consoles is already dropping quickly.

There are plenty of reasons for why a game’s playerbase might drop suddenly, but the answers are rarely anything good for the game itself or the developers. For this game in particular, it may be that more people are waiting for the PC release that’s coming up soon as opposed to taking part on consoles, but that still doesn’t account for active players falling off of the consoles. And that number has dropped pretty rapidly since the game launched, the number actually decreasing by over 2 million players.

According to a service known simply as Destiny Tracker that keeps up with Destiny 2 among other games, the amount of active players in the game has plummeted since the game’s release.

The stats break the playerbase up by PvE and PvP players, but both of these categories have taken a dive. Looking at the last recorded figure, there were still close to 2 million PvE players active, but that’s quite a drop from when it peaked at over 3.6 million in mid-September. PvP players have dropped off even more; while it was once above 3 million as well, the PvP playerbase has apparently dropped to under 1 million.

Destiny 2’s numbers could very well rise up once again with new content and the PC version on the way as more players hop back in, but it could also be a sign that some players are simply losing interest with the game already.

I don't have this game yet, but it seems like this game suffers like the first one did, which was lack of content. I still want to give the game a go but I don't really have too high hopes of me playing over and over once I reach end game.

I can't play rn without trials that's a no no

As a player that has 3x 305 characters for weeks now, there's simply not enough content for me to play and that's the problem everyone has. There's no incentive to keep doing the raid and going Flawless when they're so easy to do and the rewards are lackluster.

Severe lack of endgame content. I come on on a Tuesday, complete all milestones and then repeat the following week.

Nothing to do after you reach max level. PvP sucks

That's exactly why I didn't purchase Destiny 2. When I purchased Destiny I played it for a month and like never touched it again. Only fun thing about it is campaign, online PvP just sucks.

This is expected with the amount of players that only play trials on the weekend. People like me a 305 x3 and have nothing left to do. I still have 75% of my friends online that I had day 1
