Xbox One X GPU Power Ranges From GTX 1060 To GTX 1080, Says Dev
In the interview, Bettner talks of how the Xbox One X is easy to use from a developer’s perspective and then goes on to state that the console performs similarly to a high- end gaming pc. Bettner states that in terms of comparison, the Xbox One X’s GPU perhaps most closely ranges between Nvidia’s 1060 to 1080. While a GTX 1060 or even GTX 1070 might face problems running today’s best games at 4K on PC, Bettner suggests that the same problems don’t exist for the Xbox One X. This is because games are better optimized for the console and for the PC, the developer has to” target a much wider range of hardware.”
Being an avid gamer himself, Bettner has made it clear that the Xbox One X will be his console of choice for the “foreseeable future”, until the next generation comes along. The Xbox One X is set to release on November 7th.
With the Xbox One X just a little over a couple weeks away from worldwide launch, you’re probably going to see a lot more of these in the near future- but here’s one just to kick things off anyway. Digital Foundry have posted a graphics comparison video between the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro, and the results are about what you’d expect them to be.
The video shows the recently released Middle-Earth: Shadow of War running on both the systems, comparing everything from resolution to frame rates. The Xbox One X version of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War looks significantly better than the PS4 Pro version, predictably enough, thanks to its much powerful hardware.
We’ll have to wait to put the Xbox One X through its paces before we can say for sure if its power and 4K chops justifies it being the most expensive games console in the market.

Decy PC gaming in general could learn from Xbox on how they can make there games run smoother/better if he claims that it doesn't have the problems also the console is defo worth it if its holding that kinda power as it would most likely cost more to build a pc with the same power.
As I'm a undergrad games student, I'd say that it really comes down to the developer. How well do they know the system? What strategies concerning hardware, can they use to make these games run exceptionally? PC has constraints posed by the nature of the software and hardware involved. Many things contribute to degraded performance. For example, here are a few:
- The OS is not built to solely run a single program; resources are shared between whatever needs resources.
- Hardware validation, and adding code to cover all combinations of hardware and features such as APIs, API Versions, OS versions, CPU/GPU architectures etc.
However what I would say is Game Developers can, ultimately, create a terrible experience due to a lack of optimisation. Or, an amazing experience because they're put in the hard work. You'll notice 1st party titles almost hit great performance, because they know exactly what opstacles to avoid when it comes to programming (because they technically built the Hardware/Software). I mean, I run Forza 7 on Ultra @4k 60 on a 1070 and the game never surpasses 6GB VRAM. However they tend to do a great job on both PC/Console (UWP helps here a lot).
A prime example I use is the last gen of consoles. Games like Halo 4 and Battlefield 4 running on 512MB RAM with a 500MHz GPU? You won't see that again until the end of Xbox Ones life cycle :)

Nah PC hardware is fine. It's the developers that need to learn how to properly optimize their games. *cough* BlueHole *cough*

That's really unfair to say PC Games, for the most part, run better than anything a console has to offer it all comes down to where the Dev's target or how well the game is ported.

Hmm... I'll see when it's fully released rather than the tests MS do themselves but thats a huge statement to make - hope it pays off for them!
