Hackers confirm Sony implemented 'rootkit' in new PS3 firmware

4.5
Well known hacker Mathieulh has reportedly confirmed that Sony has implemented a 'rootkit' in the latest PS3 firmware. He noted "Essentially Sony can now remotely execute code on the PS3 as soon as you connect. This can do whatever Sony wants it to do such as verifying system files or searching for homebrew. Sony can change the code and add new detection methods without any firmware updates and as the code executes remotely there is no reliable way to forge the replies." The 'severity' of this is emphasised as Math claims that this will likely see the end of playing custom firmware online.

Amsterdam is correct. This news is false, Mathieulh never claimed that. He said that he has seen small hints and not the code itself.

You guys are a bit to fast with this news I guess.
Checked Matieulh his twitter and I quote;
I said on irc that I saw small hints of possible remote execution code in 3.56, not the code itself, people should stop miss-interpreting.

And..
I am tired of seeing sentences I write on irc being somewhat modified and then newsed all over way out of proportion...

Sooo only time will tell what Sony did or did not put in the new 3.56
