Eric Barone, creator of Stardew Valley, has previously talked about adding multiplayer to the game on several occasions. The most recent update about the feature pegged it for a beta release early in 2018.
We’re halfway through January and already Barone has more to share. It’s not an update per se, more of a teaser. The designer shared a screenshot showing multiple players in the same game, from a recent play session.
The four players were playing on LAN, and it sounds like playing Stardew Valley in multiplayer will be a very active experience.
4-player Stardew Valley LAN party at my house... it's really fun. It still needs some work, but the underlying network code is solid. Being in the same room and yelling at each other about what to do next, or if anyone has any stone, is great fun. Can't wait to share this pic.twitter.com/Sjxyd712BK

Though we’re still no closer to a date, even for the beta, it’s good to hear progress is being made. Hopefully that PC beta is coming soon and fans will be able to finally get their hands on it.
