Fortnite bugs “Taking longer than expected to fix"

Epic Games has said that bugs that are plaguing the latest build of popular battle royale game Fortnite are taking much longer than expected to fix.

Version 2.4.0 of Fortnite was due to be released yesterday, but that has been delayed to deal with continued problems.

“We hear your concerns regarding bugs that you are experiencing since V.2.3.0, especially those regarding building,” said Epic. “It’s taking us longer than expected to fix these issues and we’re working through some major ones. If we’re unable to fix them today the v2.4.0 release will be delayed. Once we have a better idea of when the patch will arrive we’ll update everyone.”

As a result, Epic is going to revert some of its older building UI and systems to speed building up in game when version 2.4.0 is eventually released. Players have been struggling with a bug whereby a different object is built to the one selected, among other issues.

“In order to help make building feel better we’ll be reverting to the building bar system that was present in V.2.2.0. We intend on finding a more permanent fix to make building and item selection feel more crisp in the future. We’ve also added some tools to help us better diagnose in-game issues when new bugs do arise.”

“Reverted building is planned to come with 2.4.0, and we’re working on a slightly longer-term improvement without some of the bugs we’ve seen people experiencing,” offered Epic.

“We know it’s been frustrating for our players, but it’s a tough nut to crack and we need a bit more time than we want to make you wait for the other great fixes, features, and content we’ve got lined up. We figured the best thing we could do would be to restore it to the state it was in with 2.2.0, and take another shot at improving the feel and responsiveness of building in the near future.”

Earlier this week Fortnite offered compensation to players affected by the latest problems, which come after a major update to the map which added new locations and biomes.

I've been playing the game all week and I personally don't seem to be having these problems on my end. It sucks others are getting them and even my friends are. Hope they can get them fixed up

Yeah there's been many issues with the game in general man like getting shot through walls ect and the building one which is probably the most annoying one atm. But i'm glad there working to fix it.


It's a free game though so I don't expect them to rush on updates.

Ever since i got the update yesterday, my screen has been somewhat unplayable. I cannot see a large portion of the outside of the screen, and it is cropped so bad. I really hope they fix this, it impairs the game for me so much. Otherwise, I love this game.

That's a horrible response. Was not expecting them to say they're having troubles fixing the game. Hope they get it resolved for the people playing on a cropped screen! That's such a horrible bug.

The bugs have been quite awful since the big map update, the most annoying is where you can't pull out your weapon yet others can.
