While we know the deal was closed on March 1 and that Blue Mammoth Games will be accretive to Ubisoft’s overall earning, they companies involved decided to not disclose any more details about the deal. Blue Mammoth Games is currently composed of 21 developers and will continue to focus on Brawlhalla and online experiences even after this acquisition.
Laurent Detoc, President of Ubisoft NCSA, had the following to say about acquiring this new studio:
“The team at Blue Mammoth Games is expert at developing and running scalable, competitive, multiplayer online games, and they’ll be a great addition to Ubisoft’s network of studios. With Brawlhalla, we’re getting a hugely popular and highly-profitable title that aligns with our strategy of expanding our audience and providing players with long-lasting, entertaining gaming experiences.”
Meanwhile, Blue Mammoth Games Founders Matthew Woomer and Lincoln Hamilton also commented on the acquisition:
“We’re looking forward to leveraging Ubisoft’s expertise and resources to continue developing and supporting Brawlhalla for the long term, and to benefiting from their help in bringing the game to new players.”
Blue Mammoth Games also delved into how this acquisition will help them in a recent blog post on Brawlhalla’s website. The studio claims this acquisition will allow the developer to grow more steadily and have more stability and resources available to them when working on Brawlhalla.
They also promised to not turn Brawlhalla into a pay-to-win game, even after this acquisition by a large company. Brawlhalla is currently available for free on PC, Mac, and PS4.
