This announcement also reaffirms that State of Decay 2 will be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, meaning those who pick it up on Xbox One will also get the Windows 10 version, and vice versa. If you are subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass, you will be able to play State of Decay 2 as part of that service.
While the base game’s price may seem a bit lower than expected, Microsoft’s General Manager of Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg told IGN that the lower price means more players will have the opportunity to try out the game, which will hopefully sustain long-term community engagement:
“Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the State of Decay community and to foster deeper experiences with the franchise. We believe State of Decay 2 accomplishes this goal by immersing fans in the ultimate zombie survival fantasy, and we want to give more players the opportunity to join in and experience this unique game.”
For those of you curious about it, State of Decay 2 Ultimate Edition will net player early access to the game, State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition, and the Independence and Daybreak post-launch DLC packs. State of Decay 2 and its Ultimate Edition will finally be available on both PC and Xbox One on May 22.
