Rumor: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Will Not Include MP

We have some bad news for Call of Duty fans. It's so bad, in fact, that we're inclined to believe that the information is not accurate, but we'll let you be the judge of that. In case you missed it, rumor has it that a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remaster is in the works. That would be fantastic news, of course, and we were all very excited to hear about it -- though at the time nothing has been confirmed. This morning, however, charlieINTEL is reporting that, according to its source, this remaster will not include a multiplayer mode.

"charlieINTEL has learned new information," the report reads, "about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered from a source that sent us materials from a Raven Software employee indicating Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered does not have a multiplayer mode; it is a campaign only remaster, according to the material charlieINTEL was sent. We believe this information to be accurate."


Sounds totally ludicrous, right? Modern Warfare 2 had one of the best multiplayer modes in the entire series (the best, in this author's opinion). How on earth would it make sense to anyone within Activision Blizzard to launch this game without its celebrated multiplayer mode? We're inclined to toss this rumor in the trash-bin due to the "wtf" factor alone, but then, there's this one really sticky problem...

The Amazon Italy listing which first leaked the apparent existence of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered did have it listed for a pretty low price. The game showed up there for around $25 USD, which was baffling considering Modern Warfare Remastered was priced at $40. At first we thought that the low price was an indication that the listing was fake, but now we're lamenting the fact that it could be confirmation that it will only come with the single-player campaign.

Don't get us wrong, Modern Warfare 2 has a fantastic single-player campaign, but it's not what we were getting excited about; that's not what would have sold this remaster for us.

Activision, if you're reading this, please listen to your fans: We love MW2 multiplayer, and that's what we're excited to get our hands on. If this remaster is campaign-only, then we need to see Modern Warfare 2 made backward compatible on Xbox One at the very least.

I really have nothing to say towards this. I'll still be getting the game with or without MP since the campaign is my all-time favorite. MP was the base of this game though, why wouldn't they have it.

The only reason I don't believe this is because it would be such a poor business decision on their part. Look at the success that MWR Remastered had! These company's are in it for the money. And to not release the most important part of that game doesn't make any sense at all.

It this is the case, this could explain why when it was listed on amazon I believe it was? (Correct me if I'm wrong) but this could be why the price was so cheap for mw2 remastered. Because it doesn't include a remastered multiplayer.

If its true, Ill be one of the few that won't mind this! Loved the campaign and lets be honest, MP will not be the same as before. It will have all the loot/customisable BS and it will ruin the
nostalgic experience IMO.

Motioncorey For everyone saying it's a dumb decision, first off.. the game was found to be listed on Amazon at $25. $25! And on top of that... other rumors project a late April release. This IS NOT meant to compete with RDR2, Fortnite, or BF 2018.

If you ask me, pay 25 now for a campaign, then the rest later if they decide to add multiplayer.


Remember, MWR did NOT have MP until a month later.


That's not true lol it just came out early on PS4 so people could play campaign before Infinite Warfare came out

If it ever get released it will have MP. They aren't that stupid to not make it. Sales are everything for them.

I can't see them only releasing the campaign... It's probably the most iconic and most played CoD MP ever.
Unlike most other CoD's, MW2's MP didn't die off after Black Ops was released.
And I believe if it is re-released, it won't die off nearly as quick and MWR did.
CoD 4 was my first CoD MP and ultimately, Cod 4 was the game that got me into multiplayer gaming.
But in today's time, it's dated. We've got so used to a vast variety of killstreaks, guns, and 4 different Map Packs every year.
The new camo's, titles and emblems and annoying guns that were only available if you gave in to Activision's gambling scheme just didn't cut it.
MW2R Will do very well IMO and will frustrate ALL MW2 fans if only half the game is released.
