YouTube HQ: Police confirm there's an active shooter at company campus

There is an active shooter at YouTube headquarters at the California-based company located around 11 miles south of San Francisco, according to police.

The San Mateo County Sheriff and local San Bruno Police are working together to resolve the situation. Product manager Vadim Lavrusik tweeted that he "heard shots and saw people running while at my desk" but he and some colleagues have been evacuated and are safe at this time.

The police have advised the public to stay out of the area of the offices. Footage posted via Snapchat close to the campus in San Mateo shows some people walking down the street with their hands above their heads and police surrounding the building while wearing tactical gear.




The San Bruno City Manager's office told BuzzFeed News that the city received several emergency calls from inside the building and the surrounding area regarding gunshots. Police are currently searching individuals who have been evacuated before allowing them to leave the scene to prevent the shooter from blending in with escaping crowds.

Police have released very little information, however, unconfirmed reports from local media said that the shooter is female, and two people are injured.

People in surrounding offices have shared some images of the scene on various social media platforms.



The video streaming company is owned by Google, whose main headquarters are also located in the northern California area. The company tweeted that it has been "coordinating with authorities and will provide official information here from Google and YouTube as it becomes available".

Todd Sherman, another YouTube staffer, tweeted that he "saw blood drips on the floor and stairs" as he was evacuating. He later tweeted that he is safe and on his way home from the scene.

all jokes aside how to figure the reason for the shooters is to enter the mind of a shooter(not beccome one) just the understanding on why they do it ect, the main reason is because american gun laws arent strict enough imo,

again you need to know how a shooters mind works and find out what causes them to do what they do


Yes cause shooters are already following the gun laws right? What more will more laws do? They are breaking the laws and making more will not stop them.

Was watching this earlier. Video games wasnt the motive or anything like that. Of the 4 people hit, first 2 she shot were her boyfriend and some other chick, not sure if the 2 others were targeted or just caught in the fire but I'm thinking there was an affair going on.

Too strict, IMO. If you're a shooter and you go to a gun free zone, you're going to have a fun time. Anyone can literally MAKE a gun. You just need the knowledge, which you can learn online.

However, if you were a shooter and you KNEW that potentially every person around you had a handgun..Wouldn't you be less willing to shoot the place up? Even if your end result is killing yourself..
