God of War’s Immersion Mode turns off all unnecessary HUD elements

4.1
God of War will allow for extensive customisation of its HUD elements.

Highlighting this new approach is what God of War developer Sony Santa Monica calls Immersion Mode, which only keeps the necessary HUD elements on, turning off all other aides.

The mode is designed for players who want as less information as possible on-screen, or simply for those looking for a more immersive experience. The option can be turned on or off through the settings menu at anytime in-game.

God of War will also offer more granular customisation of the various HUD elements. On top of the typical on/off choices, you’ll also be able to set them to only show up when you hit the touch pad.

This includes things like enemy health bars, the compass, and the indicator that shows up when enemies are off screen.

Hitting the touch pad brings up these elements for a little bit before they disappear again.

In the same blog post, Sony Santa Monica also reiterated that the game will have four difficulty settings, with the hardest, called Give Me God of War, locking your save to prevent you from dropping it down when things get tough.

God of War is out April 20 on PS4. Look out for our review tomorrow.

Kurome I love when games have this feature how alot of games should be played

For real, I feel like a lot of games can be so cluttered, and this would make it a lot nicer. As well as more challenging for most games

This is gonna make the game look so cool, even if it adds an extra challenge.

This could be cool as shit once you get all the combos down and your abilities are all muscle memory. But other than that it could be a "challenge" of sorts that people could do. Full playthrough of God of War with immersion mode on the whole time. I honestly would watch that playthrough.
