Fortnite developer Epic has posted a very interesting tweet earlier today that all but confirms the game is coming to China. The tweet shows a passport for the game’s Jonsey character.
The passport is stamped for April 23, which could be the game’s release date in China. That’s really pretty much it, as Epic has not made an official announcement or revealed any other details.

It’s not surprising that Epic is looking to expand into China. The game’s cartoony look and lighthearted feel means it’ll have an easier time complying with stringent Chinese laws.
It’s also unclear whether Epic will be self-publishing the game in China, or through a third-party partner. Fortnite’s biggest competitor, PUBG, made a deal with Tencent in order to get around a ban in the country.
Tencent owns 40% of Epic, so it would be very natural for the company to handle publishing in China. It also makes sense given Tencent’s reach and connections.
