Xbox 360 “Running Out of Steam” says PS3 Exec

SCEA CEO Jack Tretton has taken some serious pot shots at both Nintendo and Microsoft in a new interview with Fortune today, launching an unprecedented attack on Wii, 360 and Nintendo’s portable consoles.Tretton tried to again make the case that the Playstation 3 is “just hitting its stride” with regards to the console’s hardware, which includes both a hard drive and a Blu-Ray player.

Related to Wii and the Xbox 360, Tretton said: “They’re starting to run out of steam now in terms of continuing to be relevant in 2011 and beyond.”

He added: “I mean, you’ve gotta be kidding me. Why would I buy a gaming system without a hard drive in it? How does this thing scale?”

He also took a shot against Microsoft’s Kinect motion controller. Tretton said: “Motion gaming is cute, but if I can only wave my arms six inches, how does this really feel like I’m doing true accurate motion gaming?”

And what about Nintendo’s portable family of consoles? Tretton said: “Our view of the ‘Game Boy experience’ is that it’s a great babysitting tool, something young kids do on airplanes, but no self-respecting twenty-something is going to be sitting on an airplane with one of those. He’s too old for that.”

Tretton’s remarks will not go down well with either the competition or fans. PS3 was claimed recently to have a higher “active user base” than Xbox 360, but is still lagging in terms of raw sales.

Wii sales far eclipse those of PS3, meaning that in terms of basic sales, PS3 trails both Microsoft and Nintendo’s current gen machines.

3DS launched in Japan in February and in the west last month.

You may have more games and a bit more social but quality of your games is shit. Kinect fails...People at E3 Took it as a joke. Ps3 will be a better system in the near future Activisions contract is up now unless microsoft pays out the **** again to have the map packs everyone will receive them on actual dates. so yeah xbox is slowy but also radpidly going down hill.

Slowly going down hill? I think you'll find yourself hating your PS3 in the next year, not because it's a child's console or because no serious gamer has one but because once again, Microsoft will have all the good games and you will be left with the bottom of the barrel..again.

No but it is gimmick shit that only casuals buy and only sold due to one reason because of hype just like the Call of Duty games.

What games exactly? It hardly has any games in fact other than Gears 3 this year while Ps3 has already had about 5+ games come out and many more approaching.

From the looks of things 360 is the one falling behind in games,sales,and hardware enjoy your failing console.

What? He must be talking about Wii in this whole thing because I'm looking at my Xbox 360 right now & I see my HDD. Besides, I usually see people using PS3 just to watch some bullsh*t BluRay movies. Both consoles don't even have any awesome games out right now, except for the future Portal 2 & future Gears of War 3 game & beta.

Is he talking about the wii? because last time I checked the 360 has a harddrive, unless mine is lying im pretty sure i have 250 gb...The kinnect isn't a console either. Both consoles are boring right now considering theres no good games out anyway.

I know. The PS3 is cheaper than buying a bluray player. I can guarantee 1-3 Million of those consoles were only bought for bluray.
Agreed i have a ps3 cause i got it for free for buying an expensive tv, otherwise i wouldn't have one

Honestly both systems are really good but i perfer the xbox over ps3 even tho i have both. I usually just use my ps3 to watch movies because of the good graphics it has but i prefer more of the games on xbox plus more people play it too. Also a lot of my friends who play ps3 are moving to xbox!!
