Free to play Xbox LIVE games due next year

According to IGN, a 'trusted source' has revealed to them that FREE TO PLAY games will making their way to Xbox LIVE next year. These games rely on generating revenues from gamers purchasing additional content such as weapons, in-game currency, experience points and various other perks.

This type of game, the sort that relies on in game purchase, is like Zynga's style of game, Farmville, Mafia Wars.

i wonder if this is Microsofts response to "the chief game designer of Zynga has essentially branded Xbox Live as 'too small' for his successful social gaming firm." :P

I think it could work :)
