The Japanese arm of Square Enix presented a nice chunk of gameplay of the upcoming action-adventure game Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Since the gameplay was streamed from Japan, we actually get to see the Japanese version in action.

The livestream was actually presented by Square Enix President and CEO Yosuke Matsuda, who appears to be a big fan of western games. Yet, isn’t the one the one playing at the beginning. At the controls, you can see Dempagumi.inc idol group member Mirin Furukawa.

We get to see some platforming and exploration, traps, underwater swimming, puzzles, and more.

During the second part of the gameplay (the third video below), Matsuda-san took control of the game himself as things got more violent. Lara was tasked with infiltrating a Trinity outpost, and Matsuda-san almost immediately showcased his preference for shooters as he abandoned stealth to shoot people in the face.

Suffice to say, it didn’t go too well.
