Microsoft Not Ready For Xbox 720 Just Yet
The data came from Microsoft's fiscal Q3 financial report released today, which stated that total Xbox 360 platform revenue grew year-on-year by $712 million (or 69 per cent) to $1.95 billion.
Company-wide, revenue was up 13 per cent to $16.43 billion.
Driving the platform's growth, the Kinect peripheral sold 2.4 million units in the quarter, putting life-to-date sales at around 10.4 million units when taking into account the eight million it sold between its 4th November launch and 31st December 2010.
"Consumers are delighted with Kinect, as well as our entire Xbox 360 platform, for the revolutionary experience it brings to their living room," commented chief financial officer Peter Klein during an investor call. "Kinect continues to lead the way forward in gaming."
With hardware sales clearly on an upswing, Microsoft insisted that it wasn't ready to start discussing the Xbox 360's successor.
"We're really not talking about that," said investor relations boss Bill Koefoed, in response to a question as to when new hardware might be forthcoming.
"Right now we're incredibly excited about what's going on with Xbox 360 and certainly Kinect, which is relatively new to the market, so we're focussed on that."
As reported earlier this week, Nintendo plans to unveil its next home console at E3 this year.

Microsoft will not use BluRay technology in their next console. That would mean paying Sony for licensing fees to use BluRay and as you all know Sony is Microsoft's only real competitor in the console gaming sector. Basically for every few or hundred consoles sold by Microsoft would equal a console sold for Sony.

VillainSchoeeY They need to make a new xbox. That's Practically the same as this with Blu-Ray and a Few Tweaks to help it run smoother. Its OLD. Technology Changes but xbox hardly does. I would love to see them make a 360 with Blu-ray etc.
I guarantee the next gen will NOT have bluray, sadly. But I like consoles for the fact that I DONT have to replace them for awhile. PC Gaming is really expensive, trying to keep up with the newest tech
Why would they not add blu-ray. That would enable them to make games 50GB+ and right now the limit is like 8GB. Idk how else they would make graphics better and maintain the same amount of features.

I personally dont care if they arent talking about if or thinking to much on it right now. Cause in the end the technology will be better later anyways.

xxWhatsgoodxx the main things is put internet browser on there and improve connection and increase friend and party space :) they can also throw a new design for the 360 in there too :)
I doubt they will put in a browser, as this will make it easier for people to gain acess to it and install programs, viruses, etc

_TTG-HAGGIS_ it was a 10year plan for the 360 so we have roughly another 4 years before a new one :(
