Psyonix Announces Details for Rocket League’s New Clubs System

4.2
For a game released over three years ago, Rocket League is seemingly more alive than ever. After hosting an in-game birthday party and releasing tons of new content this summer, Rocket League shows no signs of slowing down. Keeping with this trend, earlier today developer Psyonix detailed the game’s new Clubs feature– a feature that was initially announced yesterday when the developer detailed the game’s revamped progression system.

Players upset that they’ve always been relegated to Rocket League‘s “Blue” or “Orange” team will find Clubs appealing. According to Psyonix, the new feature is a way for players to “organize and compete as a proper team.” Operating similarly to guilds in other games, Rocket League‘s new Clubs system fosters a sense of camaraderie between you and your in-game buddies. This sense of community is created by having Club specific tags and team colors that are shared among all members of a group. The entirety of the Clubs feature is aimed around making you and your squad’s playing experience as smooth as possible, even allowing Club leaders to communicate and coordinate by setting news for their respective Club.

In addition to being a handy coordination tool, Clubs also have their own in-game effects. When two teams both comprised of Clubs enter a match, Rocket League will trigger a “Club Match.” When this happens the stadium will change colors, each team’s color scheme will change to their Club’s color scheme, and the default team names will change to each Club’s name.

These features seem to suggest that Rocket League‘s Clubs will be ripe for professional gaming. In this vein, Psyonix has already announced that it will also be introducing Verified Clubs, exclusive clubs that are only available to “Esports organizations in RLCS and Rivals Series, friends of Rocket League and Psyonix and notable community members and influencers.”

Rocket League‘s Clubs system will debut alongside the game’s new progression system on August 29th.

That's chill af. I wonder if like the tourney mode, clubs can have a certain rank cap. All my friends are no better than golds, and if they play in a club match I wouldn't want them hooking up with champs

Seems like a great addition. I haven't touched this game in nearly a year so I definitely need to get my hands on it again.
