Fallout 76 Will Never Be An Offline Game, Says Bethesda

3.5
The fact that Fallout 76 is an online-centric shared world game has caused quite a stir in Bethesda’s fanbase, with many people being excited by the possibilities and seeing how Bethesda tread into what is, for them, relatively uncharted territory, but others being more skeptical about the new direction they’re taking.

While Bethesda have given assurances in the past that Fallout 76 doesn’t mark the future for all Bethesda games going forward, as far as Fallout 76 itself is concerned, though, don’t expect it to drop its online-centric nature any time soon- or ever. The game will be getting single player servers eventually after launch, but Bethesda’s Pete Hines has confirmed on Twitter that, being a server based game, Fallout 76 is never going to drop its online nature.

In another tweet, Hines also spoke a bit about the beta and when dates for it will be announced. While the dates for the beta have been confirmed earlier as simply “October”, we still don’t know when exactly in October that will be, while there’s also been a fair bit of confusion regarding the nature of the beta and its player selection methods as well. Hines, however, says Bethesda will be confirming final dates for it as soon as the team is confident about what the final dates should be.

What we do know about the beta is that it will allow players to carry over their progress into the full game, which means its more of an early access thing if you think about it. Additionally, neither Fallout 76’s beta, nor the full game will be available on Steam, and PC players will have to get it exclusively from Bethesda’s own site.

Fallout 76 launches on November 14 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Which makes sense and seems to be the usual in our current day.

coolbunny1234 As much as I love Fallout, this makes me a bit nervous that this game is going to end up more similar to what ESO was to the Elder Scrolls series. Hopefully I'm wrong on this feeling!

I have the same feeling to be honest. My friend is super excited for this game to drop but I feel the opposite. I'm sure it may be decent but the path they chose may ruin it for me.

I like playing games offline. Everything requires an internet connection now-a-days. I wish they'd bring back games that didn't rely on it.

As long as this game doesnt turn out to be another ESO on release i think it will do great! The game looks amazing and i hope it plays amazing as well.i dont have problems with online only games as i have been playing Warframe for so long and we have a solo option instead of matchmaking. I hope 76 also has this sort of feature where it is online but you can make an invite only session of sorts.
