Electronic Arts to Hold Jacksonville Tribute Fund and Livestream for T

4.3
Three days ago, tragedy struck Jacksonville, Florida and the gaming community when a contestant in a Madden 19 esports tournament opened fire during the event. Now, Electronic Arts, the publisher behind the football game, has announced the Jacksonville Tribute, meant to honor the victims from the tragedy.

As of today, EA is donating $1 million to the families of the those affected by the shooting, including, of course, the two who were killed, Taylor Robertson and Elijah Clayton. The Jacksonville Fund will also allow everyday citizens, gamers or not, to donate to the families.

In addition to the fund itself, EA will also be hosting a livestream in the victim’s honor in exactly one week, on September 6, 2018, although no other details have been announced.

You can read the company’s full statement at the end of the article.

Earlier today, EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, released a statement about the attack, calling it “horrific” and a “senseless act of violence,” and announcing that all future Madden qualifier tournaments have been postponed until further notice.

I mean they had to do something. Nice touch. But I just hope this doesn't become the normal now for nut jobs with guns...
